Case No. 18-cv-07018
A Settlement has been reached in a class-action lawsuit between Amcor Rigid Packaging USA, LLC—which was previously known as Amcor Rigid Plastics USA, LLC (“Defendant” or “Amcor”)—and some of its current and former Illinois employees. The suit alleges that Amcor violated an Illinois law called the Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”) by collecting employees’ fingerprints on time clocks in Illinois without obtaining their informed written consent. Amcor denies any wrongdoing and maintains that it has not violated any laws. The settlement does not establish who is correct, but rather is a compromise to end the lawsuit and avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with ongoing litigation.
